“Earthquakes and Aftershocks”

An earthquake is typically followed by an aftershock, often of a lesser magnitude but still capable of inflicting damage -- especially to buildings with weak structural integrity. Now, let's take this earthquake model and apply it to our beautiful Spoons microcosm. This earthquake is the equivalent of an Immunity day, and the aftershock is the day after. We've noticed from past records that on the days immediately following particularly violent Immunities (which we define as double digit days), we usually get a respectable number of kills. Regardless of if this post-Immunity day falls in the middle of the week or on the weekend, we see a good several people dying.

We would love to say that this is due to the killers' inner savagery left over from the previous day's intensity, a desire for destruction. But upon closer analysis, that really isn't the case. Though these killers definitely do deserve some commendation, it is their targets that really deserve the credit for their own deaths. Most of the aftershock-effect is due to lost hope and carelessness. Like a white flag waving from beneath a pile of rubble. On that happy note, let us begin.

Today, another gaggle of Spooners gave up and admitted defeat. Meryem contently and fashionably took her last breaths as her killer gingerly placed a sticker onto her arm. Like she literally just texted her killer and asked for death. Alex let his guard down for a moment to remember the paranoia-free days of his past, and his killer materialized out of the crowd to take him out. “Even if I had even known who he/she was, I still wouldn't have seen him/her coming. He/she is one of those people that just blends in.” To whoever has this person as their killer now, we wish you the best. He/she is what we'd call a ghost -- these are the most lethal ones. Deadly but silent. Also Catalina died. In the library. Somehow. Some stories fade away, never to be retold again... If you are a literal ghost right now -- not a deadly but silent Spooner, but someone who has died -- we invite you to continue checking your emails. This Friday definitely is an opportunity for you to get back at your killer, take out your enemies, and help your friends. But it is only the beginning. A taste of what's to come. Because soon, you'll have far, far more power in your hands once more. Until then!
