It's safe to say today's Immunity didn't go as planned. Yes, we're aware. Literally everyone was hiding in classrooms. And before you complain too much about it, hear us out. First, we don't think there's much we could've done to make an Immunity that discouraged hiding. At this point, everyone left is in it to win it. And the first step to winning it is keeping yourself alive. So it makes sense. And next, it doesn't really matter to us anymore how many people die at this point (as long as it's not everyone at once...). Our last “Immunity” will take whatever amount of people we have and whittle it down to the finalists. Which should be interesting. And, finally, for our next (last) two Immunities, hiding in classrooms will be very counterproductive. In other words, hiders beware.
Even if today's Immunity was a flop, at least it reflects the state of the actual movie it was based on. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 30% (that's a SPLAT). While IMDb did give it a 9.4 out of 10, we'll just turn a blind eye to that number. Alright, enough blabbering from us. Let's get to the kills (and botched kills) of today!
First, we have the story of a true heroine. After school, Renee Cai and Natasha Nema were hiding together in Ms. Frazita's classroom. Two Superwomen in hiding. Tsk tsk. Ms. Frazita righteously kicked them out, and a Batman was waiting outside for his/her prey. Whether she was aware or not, Renee walked out, got killed, and gave Natasha the time she needed to get away. A sacrifice for a friend. A true gesture of heroics. And the only real gesture of heroism today. Everything was more cowardly than anything else. But whatever keeps you alive, right?
Next, we have the tale of Justin's botched kill. We'll reveal both names because they're not actually each other's killer-target pair. After school, as he was going to his car, he noticed Kotak without a cape down the road. Channeling his inner Cross Country champion, he ran across the street in a likely non-legal manner and stuck Kotak, to which Kotak exclaimed, “Damn it!” Justin ran back to his car, but his moment of glory would not last. Apparently, he had forgotten his cape in his car when he went to kill Kotak. And since civilians can't kill other civilians on this day, the kill was ruled invalid. Nonetheless, the video is one to remember. Be warned, it's slightly shaky in some places.
Today's theme of misfortune and confusion continues with the unfortunate case of Joshua Otani. Poor guy. After sixth period, Christina Tani the Superwomen ran up to him and stuck a sticker on him, thinking that only tape was allowed for attaching the logo to the chest (Josh was using a bobby pin, which actually was allowed). Before Josh could say anything, Christina ran off to avoid being killed. That kill actually didn't count, but Josh was left there thinking he was dead. A minute later, a Batman waltzed by and stuck him with another sticker “just to make sure”. So Josh legitimately died that time. And a short while later, Christina Tani was killed also. It was a bit of a mess to figure out the disputes and who killed who, but looking back all worked out for the best!
Finally, here's a picture of Valerie Tan hiding in a box placed on a dolly pushed by her friends. By sitting on the flaps, she was able to encase herself entirely so that nobody could place a sticker on her. A valid strategy. And if someone is willing to put in that much work to stay alive, we say he/she deserves to stay alive. For now.
Anyway, regardless of how many kills we got today, we're proud of the paranoia, confusion, and agony we were able to create for all of you today. If you look at the calendar, you'll notice we took out an Immunity next week, so that there's only two. We had a long discussion and decided to go from quality rather than quantity. Concentrated pain rather than elongated suffering. And in case you were worried about whether the title is a spoiler, don't worry, Batman dies. Just kidding we haven't watched it yet (and we have no intention of watching it given Rotten Tomatoes' generous rating). Until then!
